Drifting in The Drizzle
Insomnia Chronicles

Patter goes the drainpipes
Tapping with the damp
On my tin roof
The sky drummer
Jazzes a solo
To an audience
Of frogs
Hwoueoeo goes the wind
Humming with the wet
Against my wall
The voiceless vocalist
Half-mimes a melody
To an audience
Of dogs
Swishhhhh rattles the traffic
Sweeping with the water
Down the roads
The backup singers
Dribble rhythms
To an audience
Of rats
Whoopoopoop flap the bats
Cupping the air
Between the trees
The audience
Claps applause
To a choir
Of cats
Tap Whhh Swish
Hoot Meow Whoop
Thump Hiss Kh-khm
I try to take it in
With a gulping yawn
Over my dribbling chin
And swallow it all up
Drawing curtains
Lights out
The theatre is closed

Such imagery painted, I could almost hear it all as I read. Wonderful description of a moment, just before sleep. Hi ow many of us have dribbled into our pillow lol
Lol, yep often the act of falling asleep doesn't make for a very dignified performance
Nice write Al ?
Excellent writing. Love this the way you expressed it and the sounds too. ??
