drowning

In the deep of your absence, I find no shore,
The waves of the past crash, relentless and raw.
Each memory a droplet, each moment a tide,
In the ocean of longing, I'm swept aside.
The laughter we shared, now echoes, bereft,
Like seabirds that cry in the skies, left adrift.
Your voice was the lighthouse, my beacon, my breath,
Now silence engulfs me, a slow, silent death.
I reach for the surface, gasping for air,
But your absence is water, and despair is everywhere.
The love that once buoyed me, now weights like stone,
In the sea of 'forever', I'm sinking alone.
The current of time pulls, unyielding, it seems,
Drowning in the depths of what's left of our dreams.
Your touch was the rudder, your kiss was the sail,
Now I'm lost in the storm, love's compass has failed.
Beneath the dark waters, where our sun used to blaze,
Lies the wreckage of promises, of brighter days.
I dive into memories, searching in vain,
For the warmth of your hand, to lift me again.
But love, like a shipwreck, lies fathoms below,
And I'm treading in sorrow, with nowhere to go.
The heart, once afloat on the promise of 'we',
Now drowns in the 'never', in the cold, lonely sea.
So I'll swim in the silence, where our echoes still roam,
In the ocean of heartbreak, that once felt like home.
For lost love is a current, with no mercy to plead,
And I'm drowning in absence, of where you used to be.
