Duality

Duality

Under the stars I have traveled.

A life time of dreams has

become unraveled.

Across the sky I have flown.

My heart’s deepest love I have shown.

Under the Northern lights I've cried.

Upon reflection how hard I tried.

It feels as though all was done in vain.
Still a part of you in me does remain.

Tears heavily flow  as I crawl on frozen roads and it seems I will for all my days remaining.

Bitter cold wind threatens

to blow out the light

of hope that my soul is sustaining

Hauling a life time of guilt, regret,

and shame

with only myself to blame.

I travel in sorrow with each step

unwilling to let go.

Deeper and deeper becomes

 the bitter snow.

Dark angels follow me.

The stars I can no longer see.

Into the icy lake I have thrown many stones.

Every crack is penetrating my weary bones.

As I trudge through a snow covered field

My body is engulfed by pain

 that won’t yield.

Sometimes I see your face.

In my heart you have made a place.

Our love could not be honored.

Many days upon this I have pondered.

Why must I hold you in my fashion?

There is endless dousing to put out

the flames of passion.

Nothing could become of me and you.

I travel North in hope
that our love will be real

Each step I take
the further away the less I feel.

Maybe when you are removed
the duality of my heart
will no longer be split in two.

Then possibly the dreariness of this

 journey will be through.
