Dysfunctional

What's the meaning of dysfunctional?...
Family,
yea I said it.
How is it blood suppose to be thicker than water,
when in most cases some can't even stomach just the thought.
Family, dysfunctional,
Dysfunctional family.
Why is that there's always a fight at either cookouts or birthdays.
Now and days, 
Laughs become redundant.
Hugs become more difficult.
And love has become more distance.
Seems time only turns when there's black cars and tissues,
when will it stop.
