Earth Wind & Fire

We came from the dust, calcium for bones,
a mineralised smile, widened, embossed with silicones,
one was given to someone else, to multiply,
more than two hundred, we walked until we could fly.
The wind gathered the dust and made a Sahara,
could not remain flat, gave dunes, became an anathema,
then it raised itself up, formed clouds in the sky,
cumulus, nimbus, raced, when they knew they could fly.
The heat was nuclear, the sand was deadly as glass,
beads of sweat, formed, exploded, when all things came to pass,
bushes burned in biblical times, left enigmatic rhymes,
at the base of the columns were prehistoric signs.
You were made from earth, my bone, made you beautiful,
the wind in your hair, flames of fire so wonderful.
