Earthlings
These creatures are strange
I still don't understand their ways
I've spent all my hours alone
Contemplating it all for days
Animals ruled by instinctive reaction
In denial of all that they are
Addicted to power, a fatal attraction
Fighting over a graveyard drowned in tar
Just to fuel a prettier car
Leaving their home with a hideous scar
Focused souly on avoiding truth
Prefuring the comfort of delusion
They wonder through life
In a tangled swarm of confusion
All the answers they seek
Right before their eyes
Obscured by an obsession with status
And a culture of lies
They no longer hear when their offspring cries
Through the hunger for things they despise
They murder their own Gods
And the messengers sent
Twisting their revelations
Demanding their peers repent
With out a moments hesitation
They alter their own perception
When the truth they find upon careful inspection
Differs at all from what they call perfection
This planet is dying from their self deception
It calls for mercy, but it's children have cut the connection

Ahhhh...a bit of poetic social commentary that also happens to be very true in my humble opinion, Twilla.
It's scary to contemplate the world we are leaving behind for our children to tend to.
Earth is the only home we've got in the planetary scope of things.
We need to take much better care of her.
Nicely penned, poet...

Thank you so much. I just wish this sort of message was actually received by the general population . So many of us have been shouting it out for generations.
You're more than welcome, Twilla, and I agree wholeheartedly.
Warmest wishes,
