Poem -

Elephant

She refuses to see
She refuses to look
She wont learn to read
Though she's written the book

He cant take a stand
Cause he cant take that chance
There is too much at stake
Its a delicate dance

He longs for a way
To escape from it all
But he wont take a step
He's afraid he might fall

He continues to bleed them
Refusing to turn
From the ones that protects him
From all he could learn

And the one that allows it
Stands idly by
While he wallows and watches
His life pass him by

One needs to be loved
One needs to love more
And the third needs a kick
Out the broken back door

The fourth needs the family
That cannot be there
She just needs hand
But gets by on a prayer

And a gift with a string
That is rigged to unwind
And begrudgingly given
By one that's so blind

She refuses to see
Though I cried out in pain
I tripped on the elephant
Then he tripped on my chain

So I finished it fast
And I finished it well
Then I left them alone
In their personal hell.
