Love's Apocalypse

So many years of marriage
But our love cannot eclipse
Our anger and we've only seen
The icebergs threatening tips
I’m tired of living with our throats
In one another's grips
I cannot bear another year
In loves apocalypse

I regretted all the venom
Before it left my lips
But you loaded up the gun for me
And back and forth it tips...
No sooner have we reconciled
Than someone's switch just flips
It's been this way, day after day
Our loves apocalypse

How many counselling sessions?
How many little trips?
How many second honeymoons?
Well meaning doctors tips?
How many new leafs turned, my love
Until the page just rips?
How many times must heaven end
In loves apocalypse?

Its just no use, its over
So put away the whips
What's the use of trying
When our marriage is the pits?
Its sinking fast, lets run away
Like rats deserting ships
I love you but I cannot live
In loves apocalypse
