Embarrassment In Outer Space

The knowing look of embarrassment, was written on my face,
As I slowly tumble by myself, in deepest outer space,
Illumination is minimal, except for my beacon's flashing light,
But my space ship is still no where, far away and out of sight.
It happened on a routine day, another day way out here,
We were off to see an asteroid, instructions were so clear,
We had to check it out as a possible, new asteroid mine,
No debris or obstacles on the scope, our path was looking fine.
A warning light was flashing, about a possible meteor storm,
We all put on our spacesuits, a punctured hull would not be warm,
I shut all doors and hatches, just in case one pierced us through,
And ride out the coming solid hail, that's all that we could do.
The storm had passed without a hitch, and back on course we'd go,
Of the thousand things I had to do, activating levers to and fro,
There was request to open the cockpit door, to change me out for tea,
I was still flustered with all the buttons, please wait until I'm free.
Now that we were back on course, I forgot about the my lunch,
And now I hear the request again, I hit the button with a punch,
And as I realised what I'd done, it shook me to my core,
And instead I hit the "Ejector" button instead of "Open The Door!"
