Eve Of Remembrance

In another life, I see us there
And long that presence
In the present air
Before I withdraw to ponder
What traumatic sin or tragic betrayal
Has left us apart to wander
For what seems like a thousand years
And this day will perpetuate
Until we meet again, I stay
At the eve of remembrance
In another life, time stands still
And youth is held, by an eternal kiss
Sacrifice is made and binds in blood
By the giving tree, two flames had burned
Then your face, it falls
From the veil of remembrance
As the past divides
And I awake to the present
In another life, I feel you there
In the autumn wind; the trees shed bare
And leaves they float
With unconquerable hope
To heights of freedom
No impermanence could soar
But then I fall again
On the verge of remembrance
As the memory I hold
Is a ghost without presence
For every thought I possess of love
There is one of fear
For the enduring delay of your return
Is ever distant as you draw near
Another life for all we've lived
Another without the interval of death
Another life for the one we've missed
Another, that we may meet again
