Experience

Experience

When does it begin? Only when knowledge is retained,
he's only just out of uni, the boss recently complained,
a tongue delivers it's message like a nice privilege
you never realised it had such a perforated edge,

From bed to boardroom, we're learning all the time,
armoury increases until paintbox becomes sublime,
a whole range from fielding brickbats, dealing with expats,
soaking up skills, changing wardrobe, deriding fat cats.

I never knew about that - there's always something,
the first time, they laughed, 'clevercogs,' they so sing;
baby looks at sunset, sees brightness, maybe that's all,
now we're older, experienced, wonder at beauty's call.

They come to my counselling office, expected to deliver,
I tell them: 'Ask God inside and you must be the giver.'
