Poem -

Eyes for me

I am bound,

By the chains of her non-existence.

The inevitability of this chaotic

situation is ruining my reputation.

I am wearing, I am tearing,

Down this burden I am bearing.

But your eyes they can set me free,

Those eyes, they have a way with me.

I am imprisoned,

Behind her closeted exterior.

The isolation in her voice,

She needs to make a choice.

I am tired, I am wired,

I feel anything but inspired.

But your eyes they can set me free,

Those eyes, they have a way with me.

I am vulnerable to those who stare

With ignorance they speak my name

The skin I hide engraved in shame.

I am broken, I am battered,

My spirit has been shattered.

But I’m hoping your eyes will set me free,

Because those eyes, I want them to long for me.
