Fair Maiden (Inspired by the music of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash)

Fair maiden, ever I’ll love you so
If you cry in the morning
rain days are bound to follow
Though we be lost in the miles apart
My heart is a bridge
waiting silent in the middle
Black roses and Robert Frost poetry
I place at your feet and bed table
My love is a stream
Set, on a hot summer’s day
fixing to cool your weary footsteps
If you would only look my way

If memory serves, Johnny & June had a rather complicated courtship. But a creative partnership of remarkable fruit.
This poem is something of a remarkable fruit itself!!
Beautiful!
J ;)
Yes, Jason, I highly recommend the movie with Reese Witherspoon and Phoenix about their courtship, legendary stuff; real life stranger than fiction....I'm a documentary junkie, love great stories....cool comment you left, appreciate the encouragement, I haven't felt much like writing recently, thanks for saying those things....cheers poet

I hope you're a fan of Cash; something tells me you are....hey, while I was listening to the guitar sequence in that song; If I were a carpenter, I was thinking; I bet T would dig this; I would give my foreskin to play guitar; only in my imagination....glad you liked this, I'm a big Classic Country and Western fan, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams..... love that stuff....yes, that line means a lot to me, was hesitant to share, lol....peace, you are way to generous, and encouraging as hell, thanks, sometimes I need that more than I care to admit...hugs

Oh boy this is fabulous
First of all Johnny Cash is amazing
When you listen to the words of the song
The ballad and duet
These are amazing artists rotting song poetry
Then with your own words
Chris this was a treat!!
Thank you mate for bringing this combination of song and poem- such a great joy for the morning start : luv fr Jai:)?
awesome! that you enjoyed.....yeah, Johnny Cash is one of my heroes, wrote songs from a 'real' place, and that song If I were a Carpenter is truly one of the most underrated songs of all time, a beautiful love song that will never get old....I was just inspired to write after listening to the words and harmony....good stuff, Jai, good of you to comment...makes writing fun when it connects with someone, cheers
I love Johnny Cash, read his book in high school. I liked the movie Walk the Line and his pursuit of June Carter. You write a nice tribute to the Man in Black. "Miles apart, my heart is a bridge..." Great image. You have cut out everything unessential, the sign of great poetry.
thanks a million, James Curtis, yes, the movie was surprisingly good, Johnny Cash was such a fascinating figure, I think I was born a fan of his, lol... in the words of Kris Kristofferson Cash was 'a walking contradiction, partly true and partly fiction'....a difficult historical figure, with personal demons (like many of us, lol)....nonetheless, one of the most interesting and most talented. Thank you for saying that the poem cuts out unessential things, a wonderful compliment, I try to do that with all the poems, but not always successful, I'm really glad you liked this one and took the time to be so helpful with your comment, appreciate that very much poet, cheers
theirs was a beautiful love story, though cash didn't treat is first wife so nice. It was astounding how they died so close apart . He did sing some awesome songs though I thought sometimes he wasn't on key... sorry I sing so it was hard sometimes to listen. another great write Chris....I would buy your poetry for sure if you published.
