Fairy Tale Mother

I've listened to every fairy tale my mother has told me I remembered how wistful she looked as she told me of their happy endings and their happily ever afters. But I knew she was jealous of those princesses that married men that made them happy and never beat them to bloody pulps. She envied their perfect complexions as she tried to cover up every black eye and bruise. Of course, she got her happy ending. But it seems she may have left me in that tower of abuse and fear.
