Poem -

False Pretense

I was pretending to be a poet
to find you
from the wilderness of desolation
a zephyr pregnant with rumours
that you lived your pain
in the labyrinth of words
floating like Β an ephemeral phantom
between Β fiery verses of your ownΒ
and dark corners of strange rhymes
as if under a sorcerer's hushed spell
my fate hurtled toward your tempest
now that I've found you
I can stop pretending
neither poet nor storyteller
all I am is a man
nothing more
just a man.
