Family Matters

Family Matters

The King sat in his counting house, counting out his money,
the Queen sat in her parlour, eating bread and honey;
children left home one by one until exodus was done,
if you leave your money and honey, maybe we'll come.

They said that we'll always be here for you,
if you're lonely, depressed and feeling blue,
someone said: 'What did you really do for me?'
maybe bounced me a bit when I was on your knee.

I have a same-sex partner of which you don't approve,
we met in Paris, gazing at the Mona Lisa in The Louvre,
my royal parents are passe' and rather fussy,
I was accused of indiscretion which was unlikely.

I try to tell my children what's right and wrong,
explain about grandpa and grandma - why we don't go along.
