Farewell, I Love You. Let it be Known

Farewell, I Love You. Let it be Known

Forgive me. For where I
Am going is nowhere; I will forget you.
Remember me only by summer showers and passing clouds for
Every memory is a reason to hate
What is surely designed to be loved.
Easy now; easy. You have nothing to fear.
Let it be known that I love you, my friends.
Let it be known that I love you, my dear.

I look to the stars and they beckon me home.

Let it be known that I am them.
Only stars can burn and be free.
Venus clouds her eyes as she serenades
Earth and her desperate ghost in the sea.

Young as I am; I must go to reach her.
Odysseus now must return home.
Understand this, my love, and let it be known.

Lemnos and her waters know me.
Even now Philoctetes awaits me at the shore;
That silver bow is eager to embrace my hand.

I will lease its arrows unto the day.
Troy will crumble and my deed will be done.

Bring me the nectar of grapes from the sun,
Even in dying, a man’s thirst carries on.

Kikonese, I can no longer see.
No matter what nymphs try to persuade me;
Only the wind can carry me home.
World, be damned! Farewell, I love you.
Never forget this and let it be known.
