Poem -

Farewell my love

Its 6 am we're at the station
The brow of your head is filled with perspiration
I know you’re scared and rightly so
But baby you don’t have to go
I await your answer in anticipation

You open your mouth and reply with a sigh
“I must go my love as tomorrow I must fight
Fight for this cause, I believe is my plight
So gun in hand I will fight with all my might

Why do I fight? I hear you say
I look through your tears to my dismay
And reply with a sorrowful sigh before I say my final goodbye
I fight to keep you safe my dear
And on that battlefield you will always be near
As this picture of you will remain by my heart
I will carry it with me everyday
And hold It close to my heart as I start to pray.

I write this letter as I stare at this moon that’s gone all too soon
Clouded with the smoke of impending doom
As the car next to me just went boom!

I lay in the road as blood drips from my lips
And write you this letter as my tears start to drip
As I  hold this pen with my dying grip
I try to focus  to make sense of it all
as a wall of my tears fall endlessly to the floor

my dear I’m trying to be strong as the light starts to fade
leaving only the vision of your angelic face
As I feel the stab of the enemies torturous blade

My eyes close with the vision of you
as the wind carries me home to grace your door
But only in spirit as my body is no more

Six months on since i boarded that train
All you have left of me is a casket of remains
And a folded flag that has been given to you in my name
