Father of Waters

Father of Waters
You took her from me
You’ve brought
Great misery
To all friends
And family
How many other
Tortured souls
Have sought sanctuary
In the comfort
Of your inviting
Hypnotic beauty?
To many
Today I loathe you
Oh Mighty Mississippi Â
Indeed poetry is a catharsis. The recent loss of a friend who took her own life, has left me in shock. Her family is devastated. My mind is muddled with grief, anger and guilt. So I’ve used this forum to purge my confusion, and try to make sense of this madness. Her death only happened days ago, so for the sake of her family, I ask my fellow poets not to repost this work on any site without my approval.

Hello Kimmy...
I'm sorry for your loss...
Thank you sharing...

Thanks sparrow. Her parents had called police the eve before. I spoke cops as well. I thought for certain they'd take her in for a mental evaluation. But to my utter disappointed they did not. The next day she threw herself from a bridge.
On an intellectual level, I thought this would happen. On an emotional level, I'm shocked beyond belief.  Her unset of mental illness was sudden. Prior to a couple of months ago, she was the portrait of stability and sobriety, and social person, with no prior history of mental illness. Then one day, she began having paranoid delusions. Despite repeated attempts by family and friends, they couldn't get her help.
Sorry, to ramble, but I needed to vent, and Cosmofunnel is the perfect place to do so.Â

Thank you flower girl. Hug the ones you love, and hold on tight. Life is short.
