FIGHTING FOR LOVE

It's easier to give up and give in sometimes

than to hang in there and fight till the end

to leave unresolved, matters of circumstance

and shut down that voice of reason from within

to walk away and leave it all on the table

rather than work extra hard to see it through

why bother, repeated in that complex mind

it doesn't matter, the other voice says to you

but to fight the good fight, and persevere to the end

is the road less traveled, where victory dwells

to overcome adversities and shortcomings, all the while

seeking absolute resolve of temporary spells

whether the glass is half full or half empty

the fact still remains, the water occupies some space

if only a small fighting chance, a spec of joy will result

it's enough to continue to push us through,

and stay in the race

often times it's easy to say I'm done, I quit, throw in the towel

I'm moving on to something less stressed

yet when you really think about it, it's the challenges

of life, that really compell us to accept that test

be it as it may, if I have to exume the very last

last breath, last tear, last outcry in my heart

until all of me has whithered and there's nothing left

I'll fight hard and swift, till the day I depart
