Poem -

The Final Goodbye

My heart's aching as I watch you there dying,
As you watch me bawling my eyes out crying.
You try to be strong but you are weak in the eyes,
You act like you're fine because I'm not ready for goodbyes.

I'm sitting on theย ground with my knees to my chest,
While you try to stand but you're not at yourย best.
So I get up and try to helpย you onto your feet,
But you're body goes still without a single heart beat.

My body goes still but my heart continues to pump blood,
I'm now all alone besides my tears that's caused a flood.
Holding my breath, I close your eyes asย farewell,
I'll meet you in paradise ready for your stories to tell.

I wish I could go back and try to change this,
But it's impossible, on your forehead I plant a kiss.
I touch your stilled body one last time,
But that is it - My final goodbye.
