Poem -

Find your destiny.

Wandered onto the balcony to admire the view,
I could see all the shadows that covered my life,
another sunrise and sunset, nothing was new,
darkness reaching for the light, like a thief,
a poignant reminder of things to come,
like the despair you feel in a city slum,
but someone said, listen, listen to your inner self,
goose bumps and hairs standing on end,
I looked at the emptiness of the dusty bookshelf,
my life had another purpose, I could no longer pretend,
I had to put faith in my intuition,
and begin my journey to a soothing destination,
over hills and hidden valleys my feet did roam,
a place was waiting I could finally call home.

Going about my business like everything was fine,
I told strangers about my plan and they said I was insane,
fate was waiting for me beyond the skyline,
I just had to leave those old streets of constant rain,
welcome mats would be taken inside,
I'd carry on walking, increasing my stride,
I was just a wheel in the machinery,
until I had an epiphany of self discovery,
over hills and hidden valleys my feet did roam,
a place was waiting I could finally call home.

Breaking away from delusion and leaving ghosts,
I'm finally happy to be me and completely free,
sunrises and sunsets fall over new coasts,
where peace and love is shaded under an oak tree,
but voices from the past still call my name,
to accuse me of treachery and having no shame,
I remind them that I found a new destiny,
no longer part of their withering scenery,
over hills and hidden valleys my feet did roam,
a place was waiting I could finally call home.
