Finding Mother

Finding Mother

Proudly taken from you that day
No reason did they give
Only saying without a care,
”Now here you will live.”

We were put on for display
For their friends and family to see,
When all we wanted was to see our Mother
To be how it was supposed to be

But what we didn’t know then
Was it was you they tried to erase,
Our broken hearts and endless tears
All we wanted was to see your face

Searching through crowds of people
We searched for you everywhere,
Trying to see a Mom that looked like you
But you were never there

Now we get to see you
So many years gone so fast,
They didn’t win like they thought they would
But lost time can’t replace the past

Many years away from you
All those years more than tough,
Somehow God brought us back to you
And even spending time together isn’t enough.

First of all, welcome to Cosmo, Maryann.
Now let's address your poem.
It's so sad and disheartening to learn that you were virtually ripped from your mother's breast at such an early age.
The reasons don't really matter–they are what they are.
The fact that you were denied access to her had to make life seem unnatural, cold.
You must've felt very alone during this time.
It's good that you found her and were reunited once again.
While you can't change the past, you can make up for lost time.
Well penned.

Thank you Dean!
I know this sounds kind of strange but I wrote it for my sons.  I wrote this because I know they want to see me on Mother’s Day but I don’t know if their father will let them. I get to see them every other weekend.   I wrote this through their eyes. They are 16 and 17 and they love me and I’m glad that they do. But this is a case of parental alienation.  I wanted to bring their feelings through the poem how I see them go through this.

I get it; it doesn't sound strange at all, Maryann.
One doesn't know when reading poetry like this if it is autobiographical or speculative.
Thanks for letting me know.
Best of luck on seeing your boys.

Thank you for your reply. At least I get to see them every other weekend and am working on a book of our journey through this hardship

Thank you so much!
I am writing through my son’s eyes and what they have went through via Parental Alienation and how it has destroyed our family especially my sons. I wanted to let their emotions come through from what they told me and how they felt.  Thank you so much again
