What CPS Let Slide By

What CPS Let Slide By

My Mom brought me to the ER
On a cool Monday afternoon,
With a belt strap mark on my leg
I hope the sting goes away soon

She told the nurse I was with dad
I spent the weekend there,
He dropped me off Monday morning
To her apartment without a care

A Forensic Nurse came in to see me
Mom let her take pictures of my thigh,
The redness in a pattern on my leg
Was still there from Sunday night

The ER nurse called CPS
A lady came in the room with us,
Talking with my mom for awhile
With a lot of paperwork to discuss

Mom waited for many months
That turned into more weeks and days,
Nothing much was ever done or said
And dad won’t change his ways
