Fire In The Hull

Inspired by a very funny comment from Charu Shawd

This is another validation, that our lives are never dull;
It’s a story about my Linda, titled “Fire In The Hull”!
One night, at our home, we were having a party, thirty to attend;
She had cooked a lovely Brisket, and needed an appetizer to append!
.
She was making a very delicious one, her special gourmet treat;
One hundred dates which she surrounded, with organic bacon meat!
In each she placed a toothpick, to keep them in one piece;
Then put them in the microwave, hoping they’d spew not too much grease!

About thirty seconds later, flames were shooting from her food;
I heard her scream, and came running, as this she sadly rued!
“I forgot the gourmet toothpicks, had plastic on their tips”;
She had tears on her embarrassed red cheeks, and a pout upon her lips!

I took the kitchen fire extinguisher, and quickly doused the flames;
The microwave was just charred, but the dates were totally maimed!
We opened all the windows, to cleanse the house of smoke;
I ran out and bought a shrimp tray, and about this, we never spoke!
