First Date

First Date

for Teresa

When Dante first fed Bea his burning heart
As women and men meet against the odds
He found his true expression in such art
Which set his name as one among the gods

Amidst a primrose meadow in the sun
In ancient tomes of verse, Teresa delves
And deftly there imparts her native tongue
Unto a gabble of mischievous elves.

Yet nowhere in that strange unending queue
of men and women meeting ~~ girl meets boy
Have you encountered me or I met you
till now. So this poem marks a day of joy!

My Dear Friend Jason,

This ancient inferno of arcane anomaly challenges it's readers to proper interpretation. ย Yet, it ends with a bit of twenty-first century humor.

Peace and Love,

My dear Larry,

Thank you for casting your keen, ever-perceptive eye over this rather personal missive. Being something of an "arcane anomaly" myself, would you really expect anything other than recondite confusion?!

My warmest greetings to you, Linda & little Cody.

your friend & fan,

J ;)

My Dear Jason,

I must admit that when I first read it, I was a little confused, but I showed it to Cody, and he helped me with my comprehension.

Larry...
It's just as well that there's a big, wideย ocean between us; because there are times when I could just...kiss you!!!! Right on your manly red lips!!!!!

Finally, I have found my true audience!! Yeats found his in a fisherman that didn't exist; I've found mine in...Cody!!! It's the superior canine mind which has a finely nuanced grasp of the arcane and anomalous.

To be fair, the second quatrain is an in-joke meant only for the lovely young lady for whom I wrote this sonnet. I wasn't being deliberately obtuse...which is unusual for me!!

your friend & fan,

J ?

Jason,

Move over, Mother Theresa. ย Jason has found his true soulmate Teresa, who to him, is the purest Saint ever. ย And by the way Jason, we googled her and found a nice photograph. When we showed it to Cody, he gave you his blessing!

Your friend,

Larry xxx
