First Encounters

First Encounters

When I was a child, out for a walk.
the people I saw, along the way,
Were always happy to pass, the time of day.
With their smiling face's and kind remarks.
When our path,s crossed, as we walked through the park.
Now people's attitudes have completely changed,
They're much more aloof and more refrained.
I don't know why this has to be,
As I'm still the same person, I used to be.
We need to make more effort every day,
To receive a smile, from what we say.
More Interaction is what we require,
To build new friendships that we desire
So put your phone in your pocket,
Away from your face.
Take a long look around,
There's a world to embrace.

Hi Michael, I love this piece!!!...it expresses exactly what I feel so often- we are slowly losing community and maybe we need to speak up a little more  -this hits the spot perfectly- enjoyed it  immensely!
