Five In A Nest

Five In A Nest

The rats huddled closely together out of adverse weather,
they sometimes stood andĀ  looked at humans with pink eyes,
you don't know what it's like when your offspring dies,
no crumbs on the lawn, it's alright for all of you guys.

My local pub is called 'The Rats Castle,' for us rascal,
we gather, maybe sit in the sunshine, yours not mine,
five mocking poets, all trying to lay it on the fine line,
but tend to forget sincerity with too much wine and dine.

We must be careful of traps, all those pellets put down,
wise to them now, bit the council man's toe you must know,
Rentokil bumbled around, you can't get me Suzy Quatro,
in fact, I scurried thro' the door - was now a problem boyo.

Nice to be warm behind the freezer - too smart this geezer,
a fat cat sniffed, there she goes - for godssake seize her.
