Poem -

For Heinrich Heine

For Heinrich Heine

On the edge of  the bed he sits

In these last days upon

This cool earth

Feet upon the ground

Hands on lap

Back slouched

Eyes forward and down

Heartbeat slow

Thoughts still

Not a disturbance left

Nor a voice left inside

Awaiting burial on the 17 February 1856

As the dead shall arise

Heinrich Heine

13 December 1797-17 February 1856
