Franklin

Franklin

This was not his shell, he thought

I must be trapped, I must be caught

The air is sticky, wet, and hot

A new home now, it must be sought

To shed this dome in which he lives

To someone else now he will give

How bad he wants to shed his skin

Off to new waters He must swim

He knows he built this wretched home

This place that makes him feel alone

They always said reap what you sow

He needs this last one chance to grow

And though it's safe deep in this shellΒ

There is no one else here to tell

It fills the walls, his echoed yell

How to escape this lonely hell

With stunted growth he take its shape

It won't allow his souls to gapeΒ

So stifling, is this dark cape

Must find a new way to escape

From this day forward all is new

He could not see how much he grew

He feels the strength now to bust through

To make his way home, back to you
