Freight Train
Colin in memory
Load after load
Hoard after hoard
Always moving forward
Shipment and precious cargo
Travellers stowed safely away
Working, moving, always moving
Almost unstoppable along hardened tracks ~~
Strong and building speed
Slows, but never still for long.
Each town, larger haul
Still unyielding
Magnificent in its strength
Chugging on through
Carrying the heaviest load.
Powerful and unrelenting
The robust engine
never seems to waiver
unburdened~
Across a thousand miles
Soon the line is ending
An endless shift is shifting
as links unshackle
wanderers wander on.
Carriages eventually vacate
Cargo removed
Each piece striped bare
at last the load feels lighter
Railway yard awaits
Time to rest
To be still
pressure cools, engine stills
Momentum gone
Cold, abandoned,
Impotent.
Unable to start again
Power ceases to exist
Rust seeps into the hard metal exterior.
This once strong well oiled machine
Now only gathers
dust

The endless churning and moving which is life. Reminds me of how much mind-boggling change is going on around us in the world each and every day working for the sole purpose of making the world look seamless and simple. Somewhat ironic isn't it? Fantastic and thought-provoking work
Thank you, yes the world seems a very different place. Many of us have stopped still, taking stock of what's going in around us
I appreciate your kind words
:)
Hi lorna such a thought provoking poem, really great description and comparisons. Loved it ☀ sending love and light always
Thanks Shelly-Anne, I really appreciate you reading my poem. I've not been on here for quite some time, going to have to get used to all the new faces :)
WOW LORNA!!...this is such a great write/read.....the word choices so precisely chosen and incorporated.....with the first 2/3 rds being words that promote speed and moving forward....building to a pitch where the words begin to be spaced and whose meanings have slowing at their core and eventually come to a place of rest.....it's SO VERY well crafted that I MUST PIN and Applaud this most excellent effort!!......Bravo!!......VERY well conceived and BEAUTIFULLY delivered!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.....T xo : )
Thank you so much Tony,
