The Train Will See Us Through

As the trains pass I think of you
Many miles down that track I'll wait
I'll wait to see you, to hold you, to give you the gift
The gift which will touch our lives forever
When the train stops I hear its whistle
The whistle blows, the train moves closer
Stopping now at the depot, my heart begins to flutter
My eyes begin to water, I begin to cry
My throat becomes dry, for my husband now comes home
From Iraq after just a few months, it seemed like an eternity
Soon I'll give him the good news of maternity
We're having a baby boy, a gift from God
As we reach out with a leap of romance and sensation
We kiss and kiss and suddenly I say, I have a gift for you
He looks into my eyes for more, I hand him a card, he can't bear the temptation
On the front of the envelope it says "Congratulations Daddy"
He jumps with joy, shouting "I'm going to be a daddy"
Train tracks keep calling and as the train makes it's next stop
Time will pass us by and we'll be waving goodbye
To our son, the Marine, leaving to go to war, I start to cry
The gift we received twenty years ago, making us so very happy
Now the train comes back upon the tracks, the beginning of time
Seems to repeat itself, as life is a miracle, the challenges we travel
A gift down that track, a gift chugging along, singing it's song
The train will see us through, filled with many gifts aboard
Sending me a letter from afar, I hear the whistle blow for the next stop
I'll be holding you once more, my son, my gift, my life
