"God You're Rehired"

"God You're Rehired"

"Of all the seas,
the Devil and I shall never be,
for the ship of my soul,
is set for God's Shore.
Because the Devil only dropped the floor,
made me self-seeking,
always yearning for more.

My eyes were gold,
gold with greed,
and my thirst for escape and alcohol,
was such an insatiable need,
for it is true,
one was too many,
and a thousand was never enough,
I always wanted the fullest cup.

I got sick,
sick and tired,
of life and lost all desire,
to live,
to the point where I fired,
myself from my life.
I gave into the Devil,
and gave up the fight,
but now I'm back up,
I've dusted myself off.
I'm realizing now,
what my escape really cost.
Almost my life,
and the woman I want,
to be my wife.

Thank You God,
for letting me come back,
and I know You know,
this new me isn't an act,
and with my life,
I make this pact.
I won't give You up,
and that's a fact!"
