Good Riddance Toronto- Hello Poughkeepsie- Part II

Good Riddance Toronto- Hello Poughkeepsie- Part II

We woke up early Friday morning, trying to forget the day before;
The convention opened at ten a.m., we couldn’t wait to get in the doors!
But another shock was waiting, when into them we sped;
The dealers dealt in only foreign coins, the advertisement we’d misread!
.
Since all our inventory was American, no business could we ever do;
But there was another we had read about, we had considered going to!
We called the show’s promoter, and reserved a table there;
It opened on Saturday morning, so to Poughkeepsie, off we teared!
.
We figured three hundred miles, like fools, we checked no map;
It turned out to be six hundred, with a ticket in a damn speed trap!
Again Fate had been unkind to us, placed adversity in our paths;
So we pushed on even harder, propelled by both our wraths!
.
We got there late Friday evening, the bar about to close;
We threw down three shots of Schenleys, then to our room for a repose!
We got up early Saturday morning, to make our exhibition look real nice;
With lots of choice coins showing, so the customers we’d entice!
.
We ended up doing remarkably, almost doubling what we had planned;
A dealer from Dobbs Ferry, spent a lot, he was our man!
We left early Sunday evening, again drove the whole night through;
We got home on Monday morning, decided, “Road trips, we’re done with you”!
.
.
                                  The young coin dealers
                             Were two wild and crazy guys
                                       No dime a dozen

Hi James,

Thanks a lot.
Of course, when it happened, in our eyes, it was a "big story".

Peace and Love,

Dear Poet Brother LARRY!!.....I Love your adventurous spirit .....there are so many things we have in common it's not even funny..... I'll bet we'd talk for hours given the opportunity....... Your ability to deliver a compelling poetic narrative is in a class all its own because of your truly unique experiences in this life....... perfect rhythm and timing making it such a pleasure to read...... and topped off with your well considered Haiku......I didn't read part one..... apologies for not keeping up with your stuff more consistently.... lot's of balls up in the air right now...... anyway, so glad I caught this one...... Love to Linda my friend!!...... tons-O-stars!!......LOVE and ROCKETS!!......tony xo ♥

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,

I cannot wait for the day, or rather the several of them that it will take, for the two of us to sit down and reconnoiter our pasts.
To receive such beautiful praise from you, for the rhythm and timing of my words, is so rewarding, because, I am a cadence fanatic.
Again, I will give my unbelievable literature teacher, "Miss Dorothea Herbst", all the credit, for her pounding it in to our naive brains, the most important three words that even now in my life, serve me.."Unity, Coherence, and Emphasis".
Of course, with those three foundations of successful poetry, she always also taught the importance of lovely cadence.
Now, to be lauded by great poets such as yourself, brings tears to my eyes, as I toast my dear Miss Herbst.

Love you Bro,
Larry xxx
