Great White

The apex predator of countless millennia,
Swims the deep blue surrounding Australia,
A hunter with skill honed to the finest edge,
Awaits a silhouette from beneath a rock ledge,
At over six metres and five thousand pound,
Homing in from afar on just a heartbeats sound,
The electrical pulses of said beating heart,
Are another means for an attack poised to start,
Frightening jaws of immense dimensions,
Leave nothing to ponder on this animals intentions,
Once fished to the brink until almost extinct,
Now protected by laws, documented, succinct,
The inevitable conclusion of its numbers rising,
With food stocks that are sharply declining,
Is that the beast must feed closer to shore,
This much feared monster of truth and of lore,
In the dusky evening and dawning hours,
This fish hunts alone with magical powers,
In its mouth lie rows of jagged steak knives,
With only one purpose; the taking of lives,
The fearsome teeth can cut a man in two,
Agape the great jaws with replaced teeth anew,
What a terrifying creature and indelible sight,
Is this apex predator, the shark: Great White.

I find it hard to believe 340 people have viewed this poem and no one has rated it. Excellent, really well thought out.
