Greatest Gift...

Greatest Gift...

Sometimes life just doesn’t make sense
Oh how I wish my head felt less dense
I’m suffocating in a world filled with air
My thoughts have been stretched thread bare.
It hurts so much to move, feel, or think
I fear my pen has run out of black ink.
And so I’ve turned to my veins’ supply of red
My mind was so cunning with the words that it said
“The pain will help you forget to think, my pet”
And that has been my greatest gift yet.
