Growing up today

Mam what was it like when you was a kid and went to school?
What was it like when you was my age, was you happy and cool?
Well my love a lot has changed from my school days to yours
Even though it hasn’t been long in between, there was afew bumpy storms
In the nineties we played out in the street and hugged family and friends
In the twenties you have to stay in, no hugs it’s hard to comprehendÂ
In the nineties we had no masks and could go out at anytime
In the twenties there’s now a curfew, rules not followed a fine
My school days was playing tag that’s right we touched each otherÂ
Your school days no holding hands, sanitize before you greet your brotherÂ
I played out, had sleepovers with friends and went to each others for tea
Your school days banned from visiting all, you just watch tvÂ
My school days we wrote in books, and went from class to classÂ
Your school days infront of a screen at home, we thought all this would passÂ
The new world we are raising children in, scares me to the core
Technical, alone, no freedom or voice I wish it was like beforeÂ
