Guesses & Messes

What really matters to each and every one?
We are the same assemblage of cells,
The same basic needs: food, shelter and water
Sex also might ring a few bells.

You'd think we all need love in some form,
Though some folk can get by without.
We co-operate but remain individual
With family and friends as redoubt.

We like to believe that we are always right,
Quick to defend our position,
Sanctimonious bullshit aside
We are largely blase to the human condition.

So I ask again, what do we really want?
I'd put a wager on freedom I guess
The freedom to do what seems right to us
Without creating a terrible mess.

As for myself, well what can I say...?
I've created messes aplenty
Apologise to my friends, try to make amends
Keep my glass always half full, not half empty.
