Guilt

Guilt

Guilt is a close old friend
When loneliness comes to visit again
My history haunts me with no answer
Guilt consumes me like a cancer

Visions of what I’ve done
Haunt me when I’m alone
So badly I wish I could take it all back
Lashing out as my sanity began to crack

My victim completely defenceless
How could I be so heartless
My mind now turns on me
My heart now breaks inside me

How I wish I’d been better
Been so much stronger
All I can do is ask for forgiveness
As my demons visit in the darkness
