Gullible Girl

That girl she was a thoughtful one,
Every inch of her brain was turning.
She thought of love and life and yearning...
Laying quietly was her heart.
Friendship, helpful friendly tips,
To meaningful conversations.
Whispers of love and anticipation.
Trying to quiet her heart.
A friend, companion or maybe much more,
Occupies all of her thoughts.
Letters of love and presents un-bought,
Failing to quiet her heart.
Her man, handsome, endlessly kind,
Brings confidence into perspective.
Finding love, and her worth that went undetected.
Filling full lay her heart.
She loves this man, this wonderful man,
Whom brings her this comfort and bliss.
But through clouded eyes, and little white lies there is something she happened to miss.
As confusion sweeps through her heart.
She is empty.
Her heart lays in pieces... shattered.
How could she not see all the signs?
She was naive, as love made her blind.
She only felt knives in her heart.
She was never what he wanted,
Though impossible to foresee.
Now she's just a broken girl,
And that broken girl is me.
