Outstanding haiku, Kerry!
Good concrete imagery in lines one and two featuring a distinct grammatical connection as well.
Your "kigo", or seasonal reference, is obvious--midsummer.
The alliteration in this short, fifteen-syllable beauty is exemplary.
Excellent word economy and balance.
Your final line, or satori, is a brilliant (no pun intended) summation of the events transpiring in your poem. It is the tell-tale 'Ah-Ha!' moment haiku poetry is so well known for.
Excellent! ~Dean Kuch <3 <3 ;)
Haikus are like the horror poetry I tried once to write lol. It's almost as if like a puzzle a beautiful haiku comes from words tossed into the air landing on the beauty of one's soul. Yours in this case. Nice one mate! xx d
