Half an Eternity

When the night falls and the dream comes
To take me faraway on its black wings,
Is when death perishes and true life begins
In this interlude
I'm just an atom of matter
Lost in a piece of rock that wanders adrift
Like a fragile grain of cosmic sand
Blown by the winds of foreverness
While the orchestra of the Universe
Goes on playing its everlasting chords
As an intruder, thirsty for the infinite
I desecrate the realms of the unlimited
Disturbing the chaotic stillness
Of the perpetual
A purple and yellow nebula,
Older than time itself
Peeks me through its veils of gas and vapour
Ghostly light from billions of stars long-dead
Fleeting presence of a remote existence
Dating back to the childhood of the gods
A handful of stars twinkles from afar
Its pearly gleam is like a spell
Inviting me to leave this comet that I ride
And use the wings of thought to fly there
And I will, despite being so far
It doesn't matter how long it takes
To reach my destiny
Soon I will be there
Just half an eternity to go
.

love these lines. But the entire piece sings to me. From my own personal experiences I found myself relating to this deeply. A wonderful poem that highlights the real journey we each are taking within this wonderful place called the universe. Penned elegantly

Hello Gwen! Thank you so much for your stimulating comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I relate to this subject since my days of youth. Over the years I wrote a few pieces inspired in my convictions and beliefs about this matter. If it's worthy it maybe I'll share a couple of them here.
Hello Aires, that would be wonderful to read. You will find a number of us have written pieces on this subject. I hope you enjoy your time here and it is lovely to have your work available to enjoy on Cosmo.
All the best

Thank you Gwen 😊🌹
Hi A...another beautiful write. Yes...i completely agree there is 'something' more though I question every day the 'what' and 'why' of it and exactly how 'good' it might be. That's an awful lot of suffering for one group of souls or gods to put another group of souls through down here on the big blue. While the jury is out for me it is completely unanimous that your work is truly magical.x
Hi Marion! Thank you so much for your stimulating comment. Like other comments kindly left here about my work, your words are also very welcome as they renew my desire and enthusiasm to continue writing.
Hello A ~ "In this interlude.." we find ourselves preparing for the ride.....the reasons unclear but the truth felt deep within drives us to the heights of potential and possibility.....for whatever is conceivable IS possible in this lifetime....a brilliantly penned piece of poetic prose......ALL STARS & PINNED!!......Bravo dear poet brother....and....in case no one has said so.....WELCOME to COSMO!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!......T xo : )
Thank you so much for your words Tony. I entirely agree with you. In fact, whatever is conceivable is possible in this lifetime. There is a great deal of chances we are all destined to make that trip. All we have to do is wait for our turn to 'board'. In that interlude, let's get ready for the ride.
Thank you for the welcome.
This is a gloriously deep poem and I love its depths x
Thank you very much for your comment. 🌹
" As an intruder thirsty for the infinite" love this write Victor! love to voyage in great descriptive flights of mind travels! really cool write!..........Jim
Thank you so much for your words Jim. I'm really glad you liked it.
In both prose and poetry I like to create images with words. I'm not fluent in English, therefore I have some limitations when it comes to vocabulary and grammar. I try to be as careful as possible in everything I write in order to reduce the possibility of making unforgivable and always embarrassing mistakes. I sincerely hope that never happens.
All the best,
