Halloween Love

Oh, so many years ago
I lost my soul
I lost it to the one so true
Sickness got the best of him
Leaving me with memories.
Today on Hallows Eve
The night usually set aside for he and I
A gentle tear fell from my eye.

I went outside to feel the air
The cool snip across my skin
The heat was over, let winter in.
I noticed a man acrossed the path
He stood starring back
Tall, thin fellow it seems
Skin as white as cotton
Clothes as black as night
He lifted a finger
And pointed to the right.

I first felt fear but then relief
He might need help
I should go see
Soon enough our eyes at one
He did not speak but put out his hand
As for me to follow
I did not know him but it felt okay
I took his hand feeling the array
Emotions flooding in
That I never thought I could feel again.

They were old, nothing new
They were from the one so true
I walked with him into the shadows
Mesmerized I could not see at all where he was taking me
He led me through the woods
Never looking back
The walk was silent but intense for me
I knew the words supposed to be spoken
They mended my heartĀ
That had for years been broken.

He let go of my hand
As he walked through the graves
He stopped at one particular place
He motioned me to sit
As I kneeled down to read the stone
It was my one so true
As I looked to the ground
There lie a red rose and a pumpkin
Carved out was "I will always love you"

As my hands graspedĀ the ground
My whole mind rewound
It all came back to me
As if he had never left
The red rose every year
To symbolize our love so dear
The walk through the woods
Just he and and IĀ holding hands
We picked a pumpkin and carved it to
That was our favorite thing to do.

I felt his spirit at one with mine
Our souls dancing, they were intertwined
I felt his kiss upon my lips
As I turned to the side there he was
White as a ghost
But still as charming as ever
As he took my hand and got up to my ear
He whispered "I will wait for you here"
Then he disappeared into the night
As I hugged the pumpkin and kissed the rose
A warm breeze filled the air
As I knew everything would be alright.
