Hands On

Our hands are the things , we use the most
from writing poetry, to buttering toast
We hold our loved ones & squeeze them tight
Comb their hair & turn out their light
Prepare their dinners & lunch boxes too
Our hands, they drive us to their school
The hand.s of time they keep on ticking
But ours are so handy , from sewing to drawing to cooking
They brush our hair & clean our teeth
Put things up & underneath
We paint with them,we can file to
A million things their able to do
We can paint our pretty nails
We garden with them,we dig with them
We pick up slimey snails
Our hands they dry up all our tears
Blow our noses & clean our ears
Wash out bits & dress ourselves
Do the washing & fill up shelves
Change the bed,s, put out the washing
Our hands do all this
Their so astonishing
A million & 1 things
That we need doing
10 fingers on 2 hands
Playing with the children in the sand
Making our lives , so much easier
Because they are there
With our tools at the end of our arms
They work for us in their unique way
From birth til the day we die
They embrace the sick, & mop up tears that we may cry
Endless amounts of things they have done
But they cannot talk, cos they aint got a tongue
They work for us , they play with us
They live as long as we do
& at life,s end lay dying
Each pair tell a different story
Some have worked harder than others
But thank you for the tools
That we are given at birth by our mother.s
