Happiest depressed person
You’re not obligated to share my sadness

-‘I’m the happiest depressed person you’ll ever meet.’ (Poem below is based off this quote)
“I curled my hair today, put on my lashes, and picked my best shirt. I wiped down my shoes, and coordinated my outfit. I look good, I know I do.
I curled my hair because it doesn’t just fall around my shoulders like before. Last mental breakdown I cut it all off, my curly hair, once long and lushes, hangs pitifully to my chin. Oh what a long few weeks it’s been, these lashes hide my eyes. They keep people oblivious to the obvious distress, I smile because they’re all doing it. If I don’t blend in they’ll think somethings off, bombard and poke with smiles on their faces.
They know why I’m so sad, why I look like I’ve lost my drive. Yet they smile, what can I do, it happened to me not you. They’re not obligated to share my sorrow, so I smile and brush the questions away. I beat around the bush, acting as happy as can be. The know well, I’m the happiest depressed person you’ll ever meet.” -AuthorAAJ

I like the title of your poem, well done!
Favorite Part:
I could see you getting ready. The descriptions helped a lot.
Good work!
I'm reminded of a sign I saw in the phycologist office, it said:
Be Crazy
Act Normal
Which meant to me that even on very dark and depressing days, you can pull up your boot straps, get ready for the day ahead and learn to hide how badly you feel until you are back to your safe spot, where if you want to sleep in, shed a tear, or call a friend, you can.
Thanks for sharing your poem.
