Happy Birthday

I wake up, my hearts still beating.

My dad comes in to say it before leaving for work.

My phone begins buzzing irrationally.

What should I be celebrating?

I'm now 15.

My heart has been beating for 15 years now.

Everyone treating me like this is some special thing.

Just another shitty year I have lived.

Happy Birthday.
