He Was Never Mine

I picked up the phone
And heard the sweetest voice ever
I didn’t want the conversation to end, not ever
But it was a wrong number

And that I didn’t remember
As I was lost in the sweetness of the voice
Didn’t even get distracted by all the noise
He apologized and ended the call
I stay by the phone hoping he calls
And called he did
Unknown to me he too felt it
The connection was instant
I didn’t want him to know so the hesitant

But all I did was pretended
He said he fell for my voice unintended

From that day onward, he won’t stop calling
I didn’t let him know I had fallen
All I did was play hard to get
Just to make him do the  wait 

This morning he called with the worst news ever
He has fallen in love with another 
He has proposed and they married right away
How was I to know he would walk away?
Didn’t know he’d slip off my hands so soon
He made me felt so gloom
My heart is torn to pieces

The love I have for him never ceases
I’m so broken
And all my feelings frozen
If only I had given him the chance
We would have done the dance
And live together happily ever after

How did I let him go?
It’s obvious though
He was never mine!
