Benches full of stereotypes
that music and movies try to end
But that’s the way of life
I don’t mean to offend

The place of a first kiss
Or first heartbreak, the list goes on
Where results were read, memories made
This space is a phenomenon

Voices fill the air
Some no doubt a made-up rumour
Bullies and victims under the same roof
Preparing for an unprepared future

Classrooms of study and secrets
Tests and essays given and collected
Where having relationships and large friendships
leaves study neglected

Words from pen, pencil, keyboard
Making sense of the head aching letter whirlpool
This is the place we call now
Here, at school.
