HIM

HIM

When she looked at him she saw straight through,
This hyperactive, funny lad.
That everyone knew.

His confidence, his smile, his loud laugh and swagger.
This hard lad, this hooligan..
was merely a blagger.

She saw a boy that felt sad sometimes but didn’t want to say.
A boy that felt worried.
But hid it away.

He didn’t want to be burden to anyone around.
So he acted the silly fool.
Kept his thoughts underground.

But she saw it so clearly, as clear as could be.
And she got him and understood him.
And thought “he’s just like me”.

And that’s who she fell for beneath all the rubble.
That boy with the problems.
The one she knew would be trouble.

She fell for the demons, addictions and cracks.
The sadness and illness.
And panic attacks.

Because without all of those things,
Life may have seemed a little less grim.
But then sadly he would have been, a little less HIM.
