Poem -

Holding On

Holding On

I found you so hopelessly crying
I tried to pick you up and feel the light in me
But all you took was slowly dying
So I cradled you so tight
In the hope, you would see
All the love I held for you in me

And there you lay
Your head on my chest
Saying “this is my moment to say goodbye.”
And I start to cry

“No tears my love, all is good.
You have so many dreams to live,
and you should.
Promise me you’ll find love?”

I held your hand as we said goodbye.
And you closed your eyes for one last time

I cried so many tears
I never thought I’d feel so mad
Fought for years, bitterness which screamed so bad

But my thoughts return to the sentiments conveyed that night
The ones you gave, which make me want to fight

“Hold on to love, hold onto the light and please my dear, hold on to life.”

Thank you, yes Fish of the sea. Sadly loss keeps following me for some reason. Someone I know (who is now also gone) called me the reaper, because everyone dear to me dies. I keep to myself these days.

thank you for reading. Sorry for a late reply, I have been away

fish of the sea? Is this a play on plenty of more fish in the sea?

Hope you are enjoying Cosmofunnel :)

Ahhh, well... At least we can still connect over the Cosmos am I right? ;) Never say sorry for being away, there are hundreds of old accounts on here that never show up anymore.... It`s sad, I miss them...

Also, you absolutely nailed it on my account of name, but my poet friends call me Max (also an anon/fake name lol). You're the first to guess correctly though!!!

Maybe there should be a prize hmmmmmmm.....

Anyway, Peace and calm waters to you.

Welcome back!

Max

Max, am I getting a prize then? :)

yes to the Cosmos,  actually I dream a lot about them, which has always been nice to do.

Thanks for being so kind regarding my late reply. Yes people come and go, it is sad to see them stop writing

I will pop over and read some of your work

have a good night/day wherever you might be

Ahah! Perhaps... ;) Definitely a mental note in the books...

Again no problem with the reply, I actually found this poem through shuffle, so congrats for a 1 out of about 100,000+ separate poems on Cosmos Lol!

And the land down under, so day here. Also in the future depending on your perspective.... weird.....

Anyway, peace and calm waters to you also!

Can`t wait to read more of your work!

So melancholy yet beautifully haunting and captivating to read throughout.
You never hold back from your feelings when writing, you write fearlessly in what you want to express and for a poet, is engaging for a reader to view and what can be achieved for yourself, a poetry catharsis of sorts.
Thanks Gwen and I wish you well my friend.
